Creating art with food! Introduction of basic cake decorating skills such as piping, script, borders, garland, basket weave, making roses, and using sugar molds. Hands on instruction for 6 classes throughout the year will be given surrounding the holidays of Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Valentine’s Day, Easter, as well as one for “summer fun”. Students and/or parents are invited to attend, with a “Take what you make” philosophy. Depending on the lesson, each student/parent will be able to make and take 4 cupcakes (or one panoramic sugar Easter Egg) at the end of each class to share with their family. Students will also have a copy of any recipes used for the baking or frosting used in the lesson, and a list of supplies used.
The classes will be held in the Cafeteria. The cost per class for every student is $12 per child, $3 each adult family member also attending. (Students in grades 1 & 2 are strongly encouraged to have and adult attend with them.) Class sizes are limited, but I am willing to hold more classes if interest presents itself. Checks can be made payable to “Mason School District.”
October’s skills include how to fill and manipulate a frosting bag, basic piping techniques.
November’s class will incorporate making borders, leaves, garland, and piping techniques.
