Chorus is Back! at Mason Elementary School 2023
Dear Parents / Guardians of 4th and 5th graders,
Throughout history, people in all cultures have sung together, and when people sing together, they build community. This year, students in 4th and 5th grades can again sign up for chorus. I hope you will encourage your child to consider joining.
Singing is an integral part of the study of music, and all children are expected to learn to sing as part of the regular classroom music program. The regular classroom program covers all aspects of music study, but chorus provides an additional opportunity for your child to experience singing with a group and sharing what they have learned in performances.
Participation in any artistic pursuit requires commitment – attending rehearsals, paying attention, and doing one’s best. If your child is committed to chorus, your child will learn to sing better. Such a commitment takes time. Children who sign up for chorus are expected to remain in chorus for the full school year. Of course, if you have a concern about your child’s participation at any time, please let me know.
There is no audition for chorus; every child is welcome.
Rehearsals will take place Thursday mornings from 9:00 to 9:30, beginning September 7, 2023.
If your child plans to join chorus, please fill out the following form to indicate your shared commitment to the chorus program, and return it by September 7, 2023.
